Sport
Share Programme
A
Sports Council Lottery Fund capital programme to assist with the development of
sports facilities for community and post-primary school use.
Two
of the key elements of the Strategy for the Development of Sport in Northern
Ireland 1997-2005, are to enable as many people as possible, especially young
people to take part in sport, and to provide structured opportunities for
participants to continue their involvement by fostering co-operation between
sports organisations, education services, Local Authorities and community
groups.
The
Sport Share capital programme aims to support this objective by helping to
establish well-managed sports facilities for post-primary and structured
community use. These facilities
will have school use during core curriculum time and community use during
evenings, weekends and school holiday periods.
