FUTURE OF TWO AND FOUR WHEEL MOTORSPORT GOES PUBLICFUTURE OF TWO AND FOUR WHEEL MOTORSPORT GOES PUBLIC

In August, the Sports Council for Northern Ireland released the International Motorsports Ltd two-part study which provided an audit of existing short circuits and explored the demand, feasibility and viability of establishing a new Regional Motorsport facility within Northern Ireland.

During the follow-up consultation process, the governing bodies for 2 and 4 wheel motor sports agreed that the major recommendations of the IMS study could only be properly considered within the context of a newly developed strategic plan for motor sport activities namely; karting, car sport and motorcycle racing including off-road and road racing. .

In response, the Sports Council has established a working group under the chairmanship of Ronnie Trouton MBE, responsible for producing a shared strategic plan for two and four wheel motorsport and feeder plans for each activity. The working group includes representatives of each of the governing bodies, Local Authorities, the Minister for Sports Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure and the Sports Council..

The working group is keen to ensure as wide a range of interested parties as possible has an opportunity to contribute to the setting of priorities within the plan. A questionnaire to canvass opinions has been drawn up and will be available by either logging on the Sports Council website: www.sportni.com or by contacting the following number 028 90 383800. If you would like to register your opinion then make sure you either complete a questionnaire on-line or leave your details on the voice mail number provided to receive a postal questionnaire..

Completed questionnaires need to be returned to the House of Sport by Wednesday 21 November 2020.
