Bronze medal for Barnes
Sport Northern Ireland funded athlete Paddy Barnes has claimed a bronze medal in the Men's Light Fly (48kg) in the Beijing Olympics.
Paddy lost the semi-final today to China's Zou Shiming.
Congratulating Paddy on his achievement, Professor Eamonn McCartan Chief Executive of Sport Northern Ireland commented: “Paddy’s bronze medal is a great boost for sport in Northern Ireland. We are delighted that Paddy who is backed by Sport Northern Ireland funding and who is a member of the Sports Institute has achieved glory at the highest level possible the Olympic Games.”
