Patrick Brown becomes Ireland's Most Capped Hockey Player
Saturday 9 February will see SINI athlete Patrick Brown become Ireland’s most capped international hockey player.
The Instonians defender, and current Irish captain, will overtake the 149 caps held by a previous Irish captain, and fellow Ulsterman, Martin Sloan who was a mainstay of the Irish side from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s.
Saturday’s game is arguably the most important of those 150 games. Patrick will line up to play Argentina in Ireland’s final group game of the Olympic Games Qualifying tournament knowing a victory by 2 goals is probably required to keep his personal ambition of participating at an Olympic Games alive.
